Aims and Objectives:
This course is a comprehensive two-day program designed to bridge the gap between clinical research expertise and educational proficiency. Although many healthcare professionals possess advanced knowledge of medical research principles, effective mentorship and instruction require a distinct set of pedagogical competencies. The course equips healthcare professionals with foundational research skills and evidence-informed teaching strategies.
This training session specifically aims to:
Support learners to develop and display an acceptable level of the following:
- Describe the roles of a health sciences teacher.
- Outline the technical competencies of today’s health sciences educators.
- Apply evidence-based approaches to health sciences teaching.
- Understand the concepts of professionalism and scholarship of teaching.
- Enhance teaching effectiveness through incorporating activities.
- Master the art of giving feedback to learners.
- Apply adult learning theories and design a training session.
- Integrating teaching methods beyond didactic lecturing, such as problem-based learning and team-based learning.
