Aims and Objectives:

This course is designed to provide nurses with an overview of mechanical ventilator from Nursing Perspective: basic theory and principles of mechanical ventilator, different mode and setting, complication, troubleshooting at and supportive care.

This workshop specifically aims to:

• Identify the indication for mechanical ventilation.
• Identify the different modes of ventilation.
• Identify the different settings of ventilation.
• Recognize the nursing role in the initiation of the ventilator, maintenance and weaning process.
• Provide evidence based nursing care for ventilated patient.
• Properly troubleshooting the ventilator alarms.
