Dear IMET2000,

My name is Malek Zahran, a medical officer at the Diabetes Care Center in Augusta Victoria Hospital, and a Chief Financial Officer at Diabetes Palestine (DP) Association.

At the first, I would like to show my deepest gratitude to IMET2000 on behalf of Diabetes Palestine association for the travel grant we were awarded by IMET2000 in order to make my participation at the 54^th European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) possible.

I participated in the 54^th EASD annual meeting as a representative of Diabetes Palestine Association, which has been the official formal country representative in the EASD since 2010. Unfortunately and due to some financial strains, DP Association had not managed to participate in the previous two EASD meetings. However, we were keen to participate this year to secure Palestine place among the EASD society.

During my participation in the annual meeting from the 1^st of Oct till 5^th of Oct, I was responsible for setting up the Palestine Booth in the associations’ village and presenting the challenges that face providing health services for the Palestinians who suffer from Diabetes and highlighting the role of DP association in helping Diabetes patients. Moreover, I attended a general assembly for the EASD associations.

On the other hand, I made sure to attend many lectures and educational sessions to enrich my knowledge in the field of Diabetes which will help me regarding my work at Diabetes Care Center. 

Finally, I would like to repeat my thanks to IMET2000 for supporting the presence of Palestine in the largest meeting for the study of Diabetes worldwide.
