Asfari-IMET2000 MSc. Scholarship at the University of Edinburgh 2014-2015

One scholarship is available for a qualified Palestinian healthcare professional (from the West Bank or Gaza) for selected taught Master degrees in health sciences at the University of Edinburgh, starting in September 2014. This is a joint scholarship funded by the Asfari Foundation and organised by IMET2000. The scholarship includes tuition fees and a stipend to cover accommodation and living costs. If necessary, the cost of travel to the UK will also be covered. The scholarship will be tenable for one academic year.

Scholarships are available for one-year, full-time Masters courses in the field of healthcare at the University of Edinburgh,
 
Application requirements and qualifications
 
This Scholarship is open to candidates who meet the following criteria:
  • Palestinian healthcare professional (including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, paramedics, counsellors/psychotherapists, dentists and others) currently working in Palestine healthcare services.
  • Up to the age of 40; Strong academic record and level of English; (candidates must secure an offer from the University of Edinburgh in one of the health sciences fields which are relevant to Palestinian healthcare services to be considered for a scholarship.
  • Commitment to returning to Palestine after graduation to use the skills, knowledge and experience gained during their time in the UK for the benefit of their country and/or society (successful candidates will be asked to sign an agreement with the Asfari Foundation & IMET2000 which includes this commitment).
  • Priority will be given to those in financial need/hardship
 
 
Application process and deadline
 
Interested candidates should first apply to the University of Edinburgh and obtain an offer. They should then complete an application form (available to download from www.asfarifoundation.org.uk/news & IMET2000-Pal.org ), which should be submitted by email to scholarships@asfarifoundation.org.uk and/or info@imet2000-pal.org along with the valid offer letter from the University of Edinburgh. In their application, candidates will be asked to explain how their chosen subject will be of value to their country (or the wider Middle East region) and how it will contribute towards their future plans.
 
Completed scholarship applications will be considered by a short- listing committee from the Asfari Foundation and IMET2000. Successful candidates will also be invited to attend an interview. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2014
